Frequently Asked Questions
Playwise follows the CMS school calendar for holidays, teacher workdays, and vacation days. Our regular school year runs from September through May. Our first day of school is the day after Labor Day and our last day of school is before Memorial Day.
Each class participates in at least two off-site field trip during the school year. Our field trips are fun family events, and we inform parents of our trips, dates and details ahead of time in our monthly newsletters!
Additional enrichment activities vary per year and include special guest readers, family events, Halloween costume parties, winter/holiday programs, hands-on animal studies, Children’s Theater performances, field day, and special visitors from firefighters, dentists and others who love to share their special talents with our students. In addition, our Pre-K and TK students participate in bi-monthly Kindermusik classes during school hours.
We request that your child be potty-trained before enrolling at Playwise. We will remind and encourage your child to use the bathroom frequently throughout the day, and we will assist in the bathroom as needed. However, we require students to be working towards independence when using the bathroom, without diapers or pull-ups.
All of our classes have a set snack time at school each day. Children develop skills in socialization, manners, language and nutrition during snack time. All children are encouraged to clean up their supplies when done, which promotes independence and responsibility. Due to allergies and food restrictions, we request that each family send in a healthy snack and a water bottle for their own child each day.
Please note that we are a peanut-free and tree nut-free school.
Children in our morning Pre-K and TK classes bring their lunches packed in a lunch box, tote, or bag. We have a refrigerator and microwave, and we can assist in meal preparation, if needed. Children enjoy eating lunch with their friends, and it prepares them for lunch at school in kindergarten and beyond. Please note that our preschool (3s) and afternoon Pre-K classes do not eat lunch at school… however, they do have a snack time each day.
Please note that we are a peanut-free and tree nut-free school.
Regular classes are not in session during the summer, but we do offer several fun, theme-based summer camps, which run throughout the months of June and July. Summer camp registration begins in late winter/early spring. Visit our Summer Camp page to learn more about our wonderful summer programs!
We are a half-day school program. We do not offer full-day options or after-school care.
A $150 enrollment fee is required at the time of registration to secure your child's spot in one of our classes.
We offer private tours during our enrollment period. Please visit our Enrollment page if you would like to request a tour.
